This mod is a comprehensive, modular expansion for The Sims 4 that introduces neurodiversity, self-esteem, and mental health conditions into gameplay. It covers 25 disorders related to anxiety, development, learning, mood, neurology, personality, body image, and nutrition, affecting Sims from infancy to old age.
How It Works
The mod does not function automatically. Sims can develop conditions through one of five methods:
- Auto Assignments Module – Sims in the active household can randomly receive conditions.
- Random Assignment via Cheat Menu – Players can manually assign disorders.
- Aging – Sims may develop conditions as they grow.
- Manual Selection – Players can assign specific disorders via the mod menu.
- Psychiatrist Visits – Sims have a small chance of receiving a diagnosis when visiting a psychiatrist.
Neurodiversity & Self-Esteem
Each Sim is assigned a neurodiversity status (neurotypical or neurodivergent) and a self-esteem level (low, average, or high). These factors influence their likelihood of developing certain conditions.
Development of Disorders
- Infants & Toddlers: Neurodivergent Sims may experience developmental delays affecting cognition, motor skills, language, or social-emotional growth.
- Children & Teens: Early delays can evolve into learning difficulties or neurological disorders.
- Adolescence & Adulthood: Sims may develop anxiety, mood, personality, or eating disorders, influenced by self-esteem and life events. PTSD can arise from trauma.
- Multiple Conditions: Some disorders increase the risk of additional diagnoses.
Diagnosis & Treatment
Sims can seek psychiatric evaluation, leading to diagnosis and treatment options, including:
- Therapies: Speech, behavioral, occupational, psychotherapy, play therapy, and individual coaching.
- Medications: Antidepressants, neuroleptics, stimulants, anxiolytics, and mood stabilizers (with side effects).
- Alternative Treatments: Support groups, self-help, exercise, meditation, and wellness activities.
Social Interactions & Gameplay Effects
Sims react to their diagnoses through mood changes, social struggles, or enhanced interactions. They can bond over shared experiences, express compassion, argue, or seek help. Symptoms influence daily activities, relationships, and skill-building.
