What Is The 50/50 Cleaning Method and How Do You Do It?

The 50/50 cleaning method is a troubleshooting method for mod-related issues in your game.

Here’s how it works:

Step 1: Divide your mods in half – First, split your mods folder into two groups of equal size. You can do this by simply cutting and pasting half of the mods to a temporary folder outside of the game's Mods folder.

Step 2: Delete the cache - Look for the file named localthumbcache.package in The Sims 4 folder and delete it. This should be done every time you make changes to your Mods folder to make sure the changes you made are applied. Make it a habit to delete it so old cache files which could slow down your game do not accumulate.

Step 3: Test the game – Launch The Sims 4 with only the first half of your mods installed. If the game runs without issues, you know the problematic mod is in the other half of your mods folder.

Step 4: Narrow it down – If the game still has issues with the first batch of mods, you know the culprit is in that half. Just repeat steps 1-3 until you identify the broken or incompatible mod.

By doing this methodically, you can efficiently find which specific mod is causing problems in your game without having to manually test each one. It's a great way to quickly troubleshoot mod-related issues.
